IDEA ANCHOR

Privacy

What Idea Anchor collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Written in plain words.

Last updated October 23, 2026

The short version

  • We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or ad trackers.
  • Only a SHA-256 fingerprint of an idea goes on the blockchain. Your idea text never does, but the fingerprint is permanent.
  • Your email address stays private unless you choose to show it on your profile.
  • You can turn feed personalisation and each kind of email on or off in your profile settings.

What we collect

  • Account. When you sign in with Google, GitHub or Discord, we get your email address, name and profile picture from that provider.
  • Profile. Your username, bio, roles (Ideator, Builder, Sponsor), categories, avatar and settings.
  • What you create and do. Ideas (public and private), comments, upvotes, likes, intro requests, and reports you file.
  • Reading activity. While you're signed in, we record which idea cards you view and roughly how long each stays on screen, with a random ID for the browser tab. We use it to rank feeds and work out what's trending. We don't record this when you're signed out.
  • Visit times. When you visit while signed in, so emails can arrive at a time you're usually around.
  • Scores and streaks. Your Visionary Score, weekly leaderboard rank and streaks, worked out from the activity above.
  • Email history. Which emails we sent you and when, so we can keep to the limit of 2 a day and avoid repeats.

How we use it

  • To run the service: anchor and verify ideas, show profiles, and connect Ideators, Builders and Sponsors.
  • To rank your For You feed, trending ideas and leaderboards.
  • To keep the community safe: moderate content and handle reports.
  • To send the emails you've left on.

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Services that process your data

We use these providers to run Idea Anchor. Each gets only what it needs.

  • Supabase stores the database, sign-in and avatars.
  • Google Cloud hosts the website.
  • OpenAI checks new ideas (public and private) and comments against our content rules, and writes the short summary shown on public ideas.
  • Resend delivers our emails, so it sees your email address and the email's content.
  • Polygon is a public blockchain. It holds the fingerprints of anchored ideas (see below).

What goes on the blockchain

When you anchor an idea, we compute a SHA-256 fingerprint of its text and record only that fingerprint on the Polygon blockchain, with the time. The text itself, your name and your email are never put on chain.

A fingerprint reveals nothing about the idea on its own. Anyone who has the exact same text can check that it matches, which is how verification works.

Blockchain records are permanent. We can delete an idea from Idea Anchor, but no one can remove its fingerprint from the blockchain.

Who can see what

  • Public ideas, comments, profiles, scores and leaderboards can be seen by anyone.
  • Private ideas are visible only to you.
  • Your email address is private. It's shown only if you turn on “show email” on your profile, or to someone whose intro request you accept.
  • Reading activity, visit times and email history are never shown to other people.

Cookies and browser storage

  • Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in.
  • A short-lived cookie (5 minutes) that remembers where to send you after sign-in.
  • A random per-tab ID for reading activity, which is cleared when you close the tab.
  • Small preferences on your device, like your theme and dismissed tips.

No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your choices

  • In your profile settings you can turn off feed personalisation, notification emails, streak emails and the weekly digest.
  • Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • You can make an idea private, or delete your ideas and comments.
  • You can download all your data as a JSON file under “Your data” in your profile settings.
  • You can delete your account under “Delete account” in your profile settings. It removes your profile, ideas, comments, upvotes, likes, intro requests, streaks, email history and avatar right away. Blockchain fingerprints stay, as above.
